Kate the Dancer

These are some photographs I shot of a dancer.  It was a great fun shoot. I was mainly after a sense of her being neither up nor down, but suspended in air, well in the shots where she was up in the air. Otherwise I just wanted something that looked good. A little bit of cleaning up of the not so clean and white backdrop later and this is the end result. I hope you like them! Feel free to leave some comments.

Badges Badges Badges Badges

A Bunch of Badges!

I had to shoot these things at work, what a faf! They were actually quite badly made, full of pits and marks. Apparently the rough and ready aspect of them is part of the look. I guess when you make a cheap enamel badge in China you dont intend it to be shot down a macro lens with a 14MPix camera strapped to the other end of it.

They were only about an inch across, which always makes getting the highlights in the right place a bit of fun!

Anyway, they are not massively interesting, but here they are.

Mutant Female

The idea is that she is being over come by something, some kind of mutation. Not shockingly original I know. I have wanted to make picture like this for a while now. I just took a little while to create. I wan't keen on the first attempt I made at it. Getting the sculpting and Skin SSS just takes a little fiddling. Originally one side of her face was meant to be far more beautiful, but I just enjoyed making her look ill I guess >:)

I hope for the "urrgh!" response when people look at it. Let me know if you do!

The modelling, sculpting and rendering were all done in Blender. The node rendering system is God sent, allows you to tweak the lighting and contrast as you go in a very organic way. Then there was a little bit of gimp and Photoshop to finish, oh and of course for texturing.

This is a little render lapse. I have a nasty habit I making a lot of renders,it helps track progress I find.

Any way, I hope for found some of this useful.

Enjoy!

My Little Cthulhu

This is a little desktop background I made because I wanted to. My Little Cthulhu are some vinyl toys you can buy around the internet all based on H.P Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu. If you don't know what that is, relax, you just never played roll play games when you were younger. Think Dungeons and Dragons (except I never actually played that). Any how, this is Cthulhu, he is meant to be big and scary but that dosen't make good toys :)

For those who are interested, it was done with Blender 2.5x and Luxrender. A rather delicious combination I think you will agree!

Enjoy! Leave comments if you get a flash of inspiration.
